Prof. Jayanth R. Varma’s Financial Markets Blog

A blog on financial markets and their regulation

My blog has been listed among 50 Best Business Professor Blogs (http://www.bschool.com/blog/2010/50-best-business-professor-blogs/) by bschool.com. The list includes 15 blogs on finance and accounting. If one excludes the accounting and personal finance blogs, the list is even shorter. Perhaps too few finance professors are blogging.

    Well deserved Prof.

From a keen admirer who wishes that he had the opportunity to be your student.

There is no serious evidence that Mileva Maric acted as a sounding board for Einstein’s 1905 papers, though we do know that Michele Besso took that role for the special relativity paper.

No biographies of Einstein (including Isaacson’s) report any calculation by Maric of the odds on Einstein’s winning the Nobel Prize, nor that she consulted scientists on the matter. As early as 1909 she had written to her close friend Helene Kaufler Savic that Einstein was “now regarded as the best of the German-language physicists”, so by 1917 she knew his obtaining a Nobel Prize would be just a matter of time. Again, Einstein didn’t give Maric the Prize money: the divorce settlement stipulated that the money was to be placed in trust for their boys, while Maric could draw the interest.

See John Stachel on their supposed collaboration :
